The methodology behind Verra’s first fully digital project
We digitized VM0033, the mangrove-restoration methodology that carried the first fully digital project into Verra validation.
WRITE-UP IN PROGRESSWe are still writing this one up. The figures and the links below are current.
When Verra announced its digital transformation with Hedera in May 2025, the pilot was ALLCOT’s blue-carbon mangrove restoration project in Senegal, the first carbon project developed under a fully digital methodology to enter validation. That methodology was VM0033 (tidal wetland and seagrass restoration), roughly 8,000 lines of code expanding to 30,000 with 40-year forecast logic. CarbonMarketsHQ authored the digitization, and the implementation is public. Running a methodology this size as software takes most of the manual cost out of certifying a project, which is what puts smaller sites within reach of it.
